Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others.

Responsible for serving as the Companys internal expert and public liaison on state and federal building codes with impacts to natural gas operations throughout MDU Utilities Group service territory. Represents MDU Utilities Group on natural gas related codes and standards boards, advisory councils, energy-related agencies, and industry associations. Identifies best practices in the development of energy code to support fuel and technology neutral pathways to decarbonization. Develops informational materials and training for internal resources who guide developers, builders, architects and engineering peers in bringing gas service to their projects. Assists external partners in developing natural gas infrastructure, metering and equipment solutions for projects in compliance with all applicable code. Informs and advises internal leaders and external partners on developing codes, emerging energy technologies and related matters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Working knowledge of building and energy codes, and mechanical work related to building construction and HVAC systems normally acquired through a Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field; and

Four years of related work experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.

Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.

Required to maintain a valid drivers license.

Travel required: Moderate (up to 25%).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Mechanical Engineering Degree.

Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification

An EI (Engineering Intern) or EIT (Engineering in Training) Certificate

Professional Engineer (PE)

Certification through the International Code Council for the building, residential, fire or mechanical codes, or through the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials for the plumbing code

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Informs and advises internal and external stakeholders about trends and opportunities in emerging technology, code making, new construction and energy distribution.

Educates internal resources who collaborate with developers, architects and engineers to assist them in bringing natural gas to their projects in accordance with applicable code.

Meets with state and local building code officials to educate on policies and practices inclusive of gaseous fuels that further safety and environmental goals in buildings.

Prepared for and participates in various codes and standards development activities.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Offers typically made between - $79,760 - $99,700 annually.

Positions are located in Kennewick, Wa / Boise, ID / Remote
